Congratulations Nephews

Congratulations to The Nephews, recipients of a Steam Engine Grant for their upcoming album Just Can’t Find the Sound

The Nephews began as a group of soon-to-be sophomores at Poway High School in the summer of 1983. Influenced by music from the 1960s, they were a retro band at a time when bands like The Bangles were doing similar things. They were also a little experimental and played shows through the rest of the ‘80s both in the mod/garage scene and with more experimental groups. 

The band eventually evolved and had its most active years from 1992 - 1996. They became an active part of the San Diego scene, with several tours and multiple album releases. The band reconstituted in 2015, still mining an interest in rock music as an evolving form. In subsequent years they released two singles and a song cycle EP of impressionistic songs about Southern California, entitled John’s Fishing Village.
