Congratulations Joe
Hi. I'm Joe Rathburn, and I've been making music for a living since 1972. I've been writing songs almost as long. I still perform for a living. At 71 years old I wanted to make at least one last album, but funding for it was beyond me. Enter The Steam Engine Foundation.
Here is the result of that collaboration: My song, Sing Along. I'm quite proud of it. Thanks to the efforts of my producer Dave Blackburn who recorded, mixed, and mastered the track as well as playing the 2nd guitar part on it, and the other musicians - Ken Dow bass, Larry Grano drums, Rebecca Jade backing vocals, Tom Keenlyside horns and horn arranging, and Josh Weinstein organ, making the recording was pure joy.
The song, basically a metaphor for music and love as powers for peace in the world, urges everyone to "sing along" or get behind any efforts toward that end. On a simpler level it's a happy sounding, feel-good, up-tempo soul ditty with a powerful ending chant. It makes you want to tap your feet, which in and of itself is a positive step in the right direction.
